I seem to recall from my grad school days at the University of Washington’s College of Forest Resources that Lobaria is a delicacy for deer and elk. The image has always stuck with me.

This is an old picture of the day, but you find Lobaria pulmonaria in Scandinavia. A lot more in Norway than in Sweden (redlisted in Sweden), and Finland I am not sure about numbers, but you find it there too. So another area to add to the distribution area!!

I’ve found Lobaria pulmonaria in the south of Europe, in the south part of the Pirinees, in the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido (in Spain), so another place where you can find this lichen.
